  In December 2011 I was messing around with the idea of creating an alphabet to use when writing things I want to be able to remind myself of, and also keep hidden. I got rid of one of the letters from our standard 26 letter alphabet, and rendered an image for each character. I then though about how I should write with it, up or down, left or right etc. And decided that I would instead cluster letters together. This would mean that words would appear different each time written. I haven't made use of the alphabet for writing anything as yet, but maybe in future.
  
  
  When I was tasked with 'payment' I decided that I would focus on snapshots of key moments, places and themes that have led me towards the EoB since 1999, and I picked 15 of those. I used the alphabet I created and started using pen and ink and watercolour pencils to write out these things. I was suitably pleased with the result of the first image that I decided to carry on like this.
  
  
  About half way through doing this, I decided I would also do something musical in the same vein.
  
  
  I picked a musical scale, and mapped each letter of the alphabet to the notes of the scale and then it became clear from track to track which notes should appear in the track, and consequently which chords as well.
  
  I limited myself to only a few 'voices' per track, and experimented with 4/4 3/4 and 6/8, time signatures in this scale, and messed around also with different effects that I hadn't made use of much in the past.
  
  
  I also kept the same tempo for each track, so that it each track could stand on its own and also be considered a part of a greater whole.
  
  
  The result is a 15 track album of about 38 minutes.
